![]() After much careful consideration, I have made the decision not to return to Southeast Missouri State University next year. I will miss my colleagues and my students tremendously. As you might know, I moved to St. Louis two years ago and my family situation has changed drastically in that time. The commute (2 hours one way) is no longer sustainable for my family. In the past four years I have worked to build community, and to strengthen the supports for students both within and in between their music education coursework. I feel so proud to have been a part of this incredible program. There will be a search opening soon for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Education and I know they will be able to hire an INCREDIBLE educator to step in to that role and take the program to the next level. As for my next steps, I am still discerning. I'm currently a free agent! I have plans to continue my work from St. Louis, building community, sparking creativity, encouraging personal growth and musicianship, and fine-tuning processes for optimal functioning. After a handful of tumultuous years, I look forward to continuing to intentionally create a life that is healthy and sustainable for myself and my children. I covet your prayers and good vibes as I step out in to this next adventure. Wish you could go caroling but nervous about being socially distant? Gather the family, light a fire, grab your cocoa and join me in a virtual music class for kids of all ages.
